Our Story

Where we started

In 2002, God led Pastor Joel, his wife Amy, and their two young children to move from their ministry at Park Street Baptist in Saint Petersburg, FL to Four Corners with the vision of planting a gospel-centered church in a blossoming community.  Several families from around the country gathered as the launch team at the Four Corners Charter Elementary School and Cornerstone was born in February, 2002 with 19 people in the first service.

By the first Easter Service, Cornerstone had 77 in attendance and had taken on its first missionary.  Knowing that the purchase of land would be the biggest hurdle, the church immediately began to save funds for what is now the home of Cornerstone on US 27.

Expanding the vision...

We believe the Lord is now calling us to expand our physical space to meet the needs of our church family and local community so that the Good News about Jesus can continue to be boldly proclaimed. Building relationships and encouraging spiritual growth is at the very heart of the design for this new space. We've designed it to support the growing needs for additional small groups, the increasing number of students in our youth program, and the need for additional secure space for our kids ministry.

The estimated cost to complete this new addition is $750k. We need to raise 25% which is a down payment of $150k to start the project. We expect the construction will take 18-24 months to complete once we begin.

get engaged

There are a couple of important ways that you can get engaged.

  • First, we can all be praying for every aspect of the project. Everything we do needs to be bathed in prayer for wisdom that God's will is done, and that he would bless our work as we seek to serve, honor, and glorify Him.
  • Also, your financial support of the project has been amazing so far and we hope and pray that we can all continue to commit to giving, above and beyond our regular tithes and offerings, so that the ministry of Cornerstone can continue to grow and expand as we are fulfill the Great Commission.

Thank you for all you do to support this project with your prayers and giving.

Expanding the vision...

October 7, 2023 Update:
Hey Church.
We want to share some exciting news about the building project and also let you know about some things that you can be praying for.
The biggest news is that this week our general contractor submitted our permit application with the county.  Please be praying that the process will be smooth and uneventful, and that ultimately our application is approved.
Also, please be praying for wisdom and discernment as we work through all of our bids and ultimately select the contractors that will be working with us on this project.
There are a lot of factors to consider and we want to be good stewards with every aspect of the project.
Lastly, we want to provide a financial update on the project. We thank God for His blessings and also want to thank you for your faithfulness and generosity in giving. Since we started more than $660,000 has been given to support this project.
While that giving is an incredible blessing, based on the bids that we have received, and in light of increasing costs, we need to raise $150,000 more to complete the building without having to borrow money.  Please pray for God’s wisdom and leading in your home to know how you might give to meet this need.  It has been an incredible joy to see God work through His church to support this project and we are confident that the Lord, through His people, can meet this need as well.  We are trusting God completely and we know for certain that His timing and provision are perfect and sufficient.

As always, thank you so much for your prayers and support. God bless.

Pastor Tim

Where we are headed...

Throughout the years, God continued to be with the church as people were saved, baptized, called into ministry and sent out.  In 2016, Construction of the current facility was completed and the focus has not changed.  In 2019, Cornerstone sent out its first church plant, Living Hope, which is located in the Davenport/Haines City area.

Church Planting and missions is at the heart of all that we do.   It is our goal by the grace of God to continue to reach people in the surrounding community with the good news of salvation, see them baptized, to establish more churches and teach people to align their lives with the Word of God.
